no matter how slow, no matter how fast
- it will change your life forever.

8 miles of much better'ness! [Training Day 201 Wed. 7/20/11]

8 miles
1:26 time
10:45 pace

This 8 mile run was much dreaded for me.  After a series of not-so-great runs, I wasn't sure how this one was going to play out. Other than the typical aches and pains during the first couple of miles, I felt remarkably better.  I have a feeling I know why.  After months & months of combing through sports nutrition books, I bit the bullet.  I went to see a sports dietitian earlier this week.  She read through all of my food journals, exercise journals, the past few years of weekly weigh ins....and told me everything I was doing wrong (and right!) with food.  Could last night's run going so much better have something to do with the way I fueled up before the run?  According to the sports dietitian, the answer is a big, fat.....YES.  I'll write more about what she had to say another day.  I'm still trying to wrap my mind around the concept of never counting a calorie (or Point) ever again.

Anyway, Kent on this run with me, and decided he wanted to go back through campus to get home.  It's 100% uphill.  Hard hills.  Grueling hills.  They killed my pace, my right hip, and both knees.  Should make for an interesting long run come Friday.
