- it will change your life forever.

Foot Traffic Flat Half Marathon

I registered for another half marathon this morning.  The Foot Traffic Flat, to be exact.  I know, I know.  You're sitting there wondering, "Why is she signing up for more when she's not running at all right now due to an injury?".  Such a fabulous question.  To make a long story short, my friends Shelly & Cheryl were so excited about this one....they made me want to do it. Again, I know. It's such an illness.  I like to sign up for stuff.  I really think this is what this all boils down to.  Me...liking to pay money for what might possibly cause pain.  Also, I want the medal because it's ADORABLE!  Check it out.

*love it*
The event takes place eeeeeaaaaaarly in the morning on the 4th of July.  6:45am start for half marathoners.  I know that sounds early (because it is), but it gets so hot out for the full marathoners.  If they don't get an early start, everyone is screwed.  The race takes place on Sauvie Island in Oregon.  From what I've heard, it's a beautiful place.  Lots of farmland.  Miles and miles of it.

They're serving strawberry shortcake at the finish line.  I can't have the cake part since it contains gluten, but you can bet your ass I'll be begging for a giant bowl of berries with whipped cream!  I'll probably be dressed as a strawberry for this event.  I'm thinking a super cute skirt or tutu might be made.  If I play my cards right, I can also use the same skirt for the Holiday Half (red and green).  We'll see what I come up with.

  1. Signing up for events is an addiction! that is the reason I have signed up for 5 halfs, and one being the 7 days after I complete the SGK 3-day 60 mile walk! LOL total addiction.

    1. LOL! 13.1 *might* seem like a breeze compared to 60. However, you're feet might be so chewed up from the 60...that 13.1 feels like 100. It could go either way. I'll be looking forward to reading all about it on your blog!!!! ;)

  2. I've run this a few times. It's a great run - just be sure to get there early. There is only one way on and off the island, and the backup of cars usually makes for a delayed start (because that same road is where you have to run). That medal is adorable, much cuter than the ones I've gotten in the past. They have strawberry shortcake at the end too - yum.

  3. I ran this a couple years ago and it really is a beautiful course. I'm so jealous about the medals! They weren't nearly as cool back when I ran it ;). I almost want to sign up now just for that.....but I have a few other things going on during that time. Sigh. ;).
Anyway, I cannot stress enough that you should aim to get there SUPER early. The line of cars onto the island is INSANE. I BARELY made it to the start on time and only because they delayed it by 15 mins. There were plenty of others not so fortunate that were running into the island to the start from their cars.

  5. It sounds like fun (except that ungodly early morning wake up) and that medal IS adorable! Can't wait to see you wearing yours.

  6. I did the full last year and I really like the race. I would probably like the half better because you get it done before the heat becomes crazy and you don't have the long out and back in the middle. Good luck and have fun!

    1. Yeah, I think a half that time of year is all I'm willing to subject myself to. Doing the VUM June 17th is me taking a HUGE risk since I don't do well in the heat. I'm certainly not going to push the 26.2 craziness into July. lol
