When you cross that finish line -
no matter how slow, no matter how fast
- it will change your life forever.

Goals, changes, and my health

Marshall Community Center in Vancouver, Wa
The end of the year is near.  Very, very near.  I'm still running.  Still cross training.  However, due to budget cuts within our household, I did have to cancel my membership to the local rec center.  So I'm on my own with cross training workouts.  Luckily, I have a slick garage gym set up thanks to my husband.  We have the entire P90X series, all of the Walk Away The Pounds DVDs, all of Bob Harper's DVDs, and loads more.  All I have to do is pop one into the DVD player in the garage.  Easy.

I'm beyond bummed about this change.  It makes me tear up just to sit here typing about it.  Going to the gym was the only time I ever got to chat with other adults, other than my husband.  I've met a lot of different characters since moving to the Pacific North West.  Some are complete assholes who are somehow stuck in the "14 year old mean girl" phase of life.  More power to 'em.  I have no need for people like that.  However, a few people I've met since moving here are genuinely nice people.  I met the bulk of them at the Marshall Center when I showed up for a Tuesday evening class well over a year ago.  They are there every Tuesday and Thursday night like clockwork, and they are FULL of awesomeness!  I hope they keep up their positiveness and kindness to others because it sure made a difference in my life.

I hope to enter 2013 with new goals and a new perspective on health and fitness.  Until then, I need to finish up my 2012 goals.  Technically, I there are only two left on my list marked as "incomplete":

1.  To finally be able to do 100 military style push ups.  I would love to be able to do 100 in a row.  However, I would be quite thrilled with two sets of 50. I'm getting closer to this goal every other day!

2.  To find a doctor who can help me in my journey with Celiac Disease.  I have an appointment later this week with an endocrinologist.  I'm hoping she can shed some light on what appears to be thyroid issues.  I know once one autoimmune disease kicks into play....others are way more likely to follow.  I think the others finally caught up with me.  It's time to find out.  (Scary.)

    1. Oooo, I sooo wish I could come over Saturday, but I already committed to attending a craft bazaar. It will be my one and only child-free shopping opportunity to buy stocking stuffers. Thanks for the invitation, though. The races I do next year will only be the smaller, cheap ones. My knees are enjoying not hurting all the time, and the only thing that has helped that was lowering my weekly mileage. :)
