When you cross that finish line -
no matter how slow, no matter how fast
- it will change your life forever.

About Me

Hi.  My name is Heather Cacak.  I lost 80 pounds 10 years ago, and have managed to keep the bulk of that off over the years.  In an attempt to take my journey to a new level, I began walking various local 5 & 10k's in 2008.  During the 2009 Flying Pig 10k in Cincinnati, a friend and I decided to run a bit to improve our finish time.  From that point on, I was hooked on running. {Read the full story of how I started running by clicking here.}

As difficult as it was to run for just 20 seconds at a time at first, I never looked back.  The never looking back is pretty important considering....I hate exercise.  I have never, ever liked to move more.  I like sitting.  A lot.  I looooove watching TV, blogging, rocking with my kids in the recliner, sewing, sewing, sewing.  (Did I mention sewing?)  All of those things require sitting.  I was the kid in high school who flunked P.E. a semester.  Seriously.  That really happened.  (It was 1989.  I had big hair, wore lots of makeup, and lived in Texas.  Sweating wasn't an option for me.  At least, according to me it wasn't.)

So, on this blog, running will be my focus.  Documenting my training runs.  Daily exercise [Blah...the "E" word.  Perhaps I should say cross training instead].  Products that help me with the entire topic of running.  Things that are helping.  Things that aren't.  Reviews on various training programs I choose to follow over time.  The joys & struggles along the way.

Ohhhhh, I almost forgot to explain the coffee part of my life.  I run for a lot of things, but mainly coffee.  I'm a coffee junkie.  Living in the Pacific North West suits me.  I always have a cup of coffee after I've iced my knee & showered.  It's kind of my thing.  Often times, we plan our running routes so the "finish line" is at a coffee shop. Bliss! (Don't worry.  I also drink lots of water.)

Word To Your Mother,
Heather
